Tailos Website Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy (“Policy”) describes how Tailos (“Tailos,” “we,” “our,” “us”) collects, uses, and shares certain information obtained through our website (“Site”), which is located at https://info.tailos.com/.  By visiting our Site and/or using the features made available to you on the Site, you are consenting to the collection, use, and sharing of your information as described in this Policy.

This Policy applies only to information collected through the Site and therefore does not apply to data we collect in other contexts, such as when use the Tailos Platform.  Our separate privacy policy for the Platform is located at: https://www.tailos.com/privacy

We do not sell sell your personal information.

Information We Collect

We and our service providers collect a variety of information through the Site.  We collect information from you directly when you provide it to us through the Site. We also automatically collect certain information about you and your computer, smartphone, or other device when you use, access, or interact with our Site.

Information you provide

You can visit the Site without submitting any information that we can use to identify you personally.  However, if you use certain features on the Site, you will be required to provide personal information.  For example, if you contact us through the “Contact” feature, we will collect your name, email address, and any other information you provide in your message to us.  You may also submit an application for employment with us through the Site, in which case we will collect your name, email address, phone number (optional), cover letter, resume, and any other information you voluntarily submit.

Information collected automatically

When you use our Site, we or our third-party service providers may automatically receive and record certain information.  For example, this may include your device’s IP address, user-agent string, information about your use of the Site during your current session and over time (including the pages you view and the files you download), the date and time of your visit, links you click, searches conducted, the website visited before navigating to the Site, your software and hardware attributes (including browser and operating system type and version, device type, and device identifiers), and your general location inferred from IP address.  To obtain such information, we or our third-party service providers may use the following technologies to recognize your device and collect information about your Site usage:

Server logs

When you use the Site, we automatically receive and record certain information from your computer (or other device) and your browser.  To obtain such information, we may use server logs or applications that recognize your device and gather information about its online activity.

We also use cookies on the Site

Cookies are small files that are stored on your device by your web browser.  A cookie allows us to recognize whether you have visited before and may store user preferences and other information.  If you are concerned about having cookies on your device, you can set your browser to refuse all cookies or to indicate when a cookie is being set, allowing you to decide whether to accept it.  You can also delete cookies from your device.  However, if you choose to block or delete cookies, certain features of the Site may not operate correctly.

Web beacons, tags, pixels, and similar technologies

The Site or the emails that you receive from us may use an application known as a “web beacon” (also known as a “tag” or “pixel”) and similar technologies.  Web beacons are small strings of code that provide a method for delivering a graphic image on a web page or in an email message for the purpose of transferring data.  For example, it may allow an email sender to determine whether a user has opened a particular email.

We may combine information collected through the Site with information that we collect in other contexts, such as information from our email communications or phone calls with you. We will treat such combined information in accordance with this Privacy Policy.

How We Use the Information We Collect

Tailos and our service providers use the information that we collect for a variety of purposes.  These purposes include, for example:  to provide our Site to you; to communicate with you regarding the Site, and respond to your questions or requests concerning the Site or the products and services offered by us; to assess your application for employment and contact you regarding your application; to send you information about Tailos and other topics that are likely to be of interest to you, including newsletters, updates, or other communications, including promotional emails and advertising; to deliver confirmations, notifications, and similar operational communications; to improve your user experience and the quality of our Site and services; to comply with legal and/or regulatory requirements; and to manage our business.

In addition to the purposes above, we use the information that we collect automatically through the Site for such purposes as: counting and recognizing visitors to the Site; analyzing how visitors use the Site and various Site features; improving the Site and enhancing users’ experiences with the Site; creating new products and services or improving our existing products and services; enabling additional website analytics and research concerning the Site; and managing our business.  We may also compile aggregated and de-identified statistics or reports that we may share with our partners or other third parties.

How We Share Information

We share your information with other parties for a variety of purposes, as described below.

Service providers

Tailos uses third-party service providers that perform services on our behalf, including, for example, to host our website, perform analytics, and to send emails on our behalf.  These service providers may collect and use your information, including information that identifies you personally, to assist us in achieving the purposes discussed in this Policy.

Legal purposes

We also may use or share your information with third parties when we believe, in our sole discretion, that doing so is necessary:

To comply with applicable law or a court order, subpoena, or other legal process;

To investigate, prevent, or take action regarding illegal or prohibited activities, suspected fraud, violations of our terms and conditions, or situations involving threats to our property or the property or physical safety of any person or third party;

To establish, protect, or exercise our legal rights or defend against legal claims; or

To facilitate the financing, securitization, insuring, sale, assignment, bankruptcy, or other disposal of all or part of our business or assets.

Aggregated and de-identified information

From time to time, Tailos may share aggregated and de-identified information with third parties about Site users, such as by publishing a report on trends in the usage of the Site.  Such aggregated information will not identify you personally.

Analytics

We partner with certain third parties to obtain the automatically collected information discussed in this Policy and to engage in analysis, auditing, research, and reporting.  These third parties may use web logs or web beacons, and they may set and access cookies on your computer or other device.  In particular, the Site uses Google Analytics to help collect and analyze certain information for the purposes discussed above.  You may opt out of the use of cookies by Google Analytics here.

The use of online tracking mechanisms by third parties is subject to those third parties’ own privacy policies, and not this Policy.  If you prefer to prevent third parties from setting and accessing cookies on your computer or other device, you may set your browser to block cookies.  Although our Site currently does not respond to “do not track” browser headers, you can limit tracking and analytics by taking the steps discussed above.

The Site may contain links to websites of other third parties.  If you follow a link to any of these websites, please note that these websites (and any services that may be accessible through them) have their own privacy policies.  We are not responsible for the privacy practices of other websites or the information you share through such other websites.  We encourage Site users to be aware when they leave the Site and to read the privacy policies applicable to such third-party websites.  This Privacy Policy applies solely to information collected in connection with the Site.

Your Rights and Choices

If you no longer want to receive our newsletters or other promotional communications from Tailos, please follow the “unsubscribe” instructions that are included at the bottom of each message or email us at [email protected].

You may have additional rights under applicable laws to request access to, correction of, deletion of, or restrictions on the processing of certain information.  You also may have rights under applicable laws to opt out of or withdraw consent to further processing, request copies of your data, or lodge a complaint with a data protection authority in your jurisdiction.  To make such request and/or inquire about such rights, please send us an email at [email protected].  For your protection, we may only implement requests related to information that we have associated with the email address you use to send us your request, and we may need to verify your identity before implementing your request.

Information for Individuals Outside the United States

The information that we collect through or in connection with the Site is transferred to and processed in the United States for the purposes described above.  Tailos also may subcontract the processing of your data to, or otherwise share your data with, affiliates or third parties in the United States or countries other than your country of residence.  The data-protection laws in these countries may be different from, and less stringent than, those in your country of residence.  By using the Site or by providing any information to us, you expressly consent to such transfer and processing.

If you are an EU resident, our legal basis for processing information will depend on the type of information at issue and the purpose for which it is collected and used.  We may rely on your consent to process information, or we may process information as necessary for the performance of our agreements with you. We also may rely on our legitimate interests to process your information for the purposes described in this Privacy Policy.

Children

Content on this Site is directed at individuals over the age of 18.  We do not knowingly collect personal information from individuals deemed to be children under applicable data protection laws.

Data Security and Retention

We use reasonable physical, technical, and administrative safeguards to protect your information against loss or unauthorized access, use, modification, or deletion.  However, no website is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee the absolute security of any information you transmit to the Site or to us.

We retain your information for as long as reasonably necessary to fulfill the purposes described in this Policy, or as required by law.

Changes to this Policy

Tailos may make changes to the Site in the future and as a consequence will need to revise this Policy to reflect those changes.  Tailos will post all such changes on the Site, so you should review this page periodically.  If we make a material change to the Policy, you will be provided with appropriate notice.
